Terms of Sale

We sell kittens as pets that have already been neutered. (Despite the popular misconception, "neuter" means desex. It applies to both males and females--the same word root as "neutral.") Neutering before age 4 months is a well established practice nowadays that has been shown by research scientists to be safe and humane. In fact, for cats pre-pubertal neutering is the safest and most humane time because young kittens heal faster and with far less pain than older kittens and adults. The reproductive organs are small and undeveloped in young kittens, which means minimal bleeding.

Our kittens come with all basic kitten vaccinations appropriate for age, which at minimum means the 3-way modified live vaccine given at age 9 weeks, 12 weeks, and age 16 weeks.

We provide pedigrees and TICA registration forms with all kittens. In addition, all the responsible breeders of Chausies, meaning those active in TICA, know us and know where our cats came from. You are welcome to contact the Chausie Breed Committee chair, Bobbie Tullo, any time to inquire about us or other breeders of Chausies.

We show our Chausies regularly, which means their temperaments are tested in crowded show hall conditions. They are handled by multiple judges at each show and they must pass muster in looks and conformation, as well.

Kittens that are strictly pet quality because of generation or cosmetics are usually $700 each.

Kittens may be pet quality only because of generation. That means F1s (which we never breed) and F2s. We know that many breeders ask extra for F2 generation kittens because of the exotic market, but we are Chausie breeders. We don't deal in exotics, nor do we want to. F1s and F2s are not showable even as household pets in TICA. Therefore, we ask the pet quality price, $700.

Kittens may alternatively be considered pet quality because of cosmetics. Cosmetic faults may include everything from wrong color or pattern (for example, the colorpoint pattern) to a small white "locket" on the chest. Because the Chausie is still an actively developing breed, cosmetic faults are common, but do not affect the value of the kitten as a pet. The Chausie personality, intelligence, and sense of humor will be there no matter the paint job.

When we get kittens eligible to be shown and of a quality to be worth showing, we may ask $1000 to $1500.

Producing Miss America or Mister America doesn't happen that often, which means most kittens will run $700.

We never provide "stud service." We have a closed cattery, which ensures the health of our cats. We only very rarely sell kittens for breeding. We would do so only when we have seen people show altered Chausies for a while, treat their cats well, join the breed committee, join TICA, and otherwise demonstrate by their actions that they will put the welfare of the cats and the breed first.
